{Get Fit & Healhty}

I have to say that I've lost 10 pounds in 4 weeks! That's a healthy 2lbs per week. 10 pounds doesn't seem like much to me, since I still have a ways to go, but it's a start and I'm proud of that.

Elena brought up some good points in her post for the week. Counting your calories makes you realize what your eating and you end up being more responsible for it. There is something I'd like to add though. Many times when someone's over weight, it's a mental issue. If you've ever watched 'The Biggest Loser", they all have had to overcome some issue. Once it's out there and they can get past it, they are wight losing machines. It's easy for someone to say 'food is not your friend' when for them it's not mental. That goes for any overing - drinking, drugs, exercising, shopping, etc... It's not easy to get over that mental block & if you don't the weight or addiction will come back. I don't overeat, but I usually lost the weight and get to a spot where I stop and end up gaining it back, so I'm trying to figure out what is stopping me from continuing past my comfort zone. I don't know if it's because when I was young, I had no friends. And my cousin didn't want to be my friend. They treated me bad and didn't make me feel like family. It's still like that today, but I don't care about them now & I have other friends that care about me. Family politics, we all have it. But those feelings stay with me. I really want to figure out what it is, so I can move past it.

There's nothing wrong with enjoying food. There's healthy ways to add flavor. Instead of butter, etc.. there's onions, peppers, and spices for enhancing flavor. Wheat pasta instead of white pasta. Fiber is your friend. Fruit is sweet, carrots are crunchy. Skinny cow ice cream = less calories lol. There's nothing wrong with enjoying your food, just watch what your enjoying and how much of it.

1. Height: 5’9″, weight: -10lbs

2. Your fitness challenge(s) for this week: Doing any. I haven't exercised in about 2 weeks. But I do have a 7 month old that always wants me to walk around holding her, so that counts for something lol

3. Your health challenge(s) for this week: I mostly drink water, but I don't drink enough. I need to drink at least 8 glasses a day. My eating is fine the way it is.

4. How well did it go:
  • Fitness: I haven't done any. Unless taking care of your child counts {I'm pretty sure any mother would agree it does}
  • Food: I've been eating right, except I didn't have any fruit all week since it took a while to get to the grocery store. Now I have some & I feel so much better. Went to a backyard BBQ on Saturday and there was no veggies or salad {shocked!}. So, I had one chicken breast and a little mashed potatoes, but they grossed me out because I saw how much butter went in them. I hate butter. I always prefer baked potatoes.

7 Wonderful Comments:

  1. Love this post and everything you said. It is so true about over coming mental blocks in order to really stick to dieting.

    Sometimes people who have been skinny all their lives do not realize how much really goes into sticking to a diet and exercise plane.

    Anyways awesome job on the -10 keep up the great work! xoxo

  6. Good for you! Not only for losing the weight, but for trying to figure out how to be healthy, for being honest with yourself, and for pushing through. It is soooo about mental and emotional stuff - you nailed that right. Also, (and I know it's hard with a family), but eating more fresh stuff and way less packaged anything will make you feel tons better, and help you get through rough days. You go girl!

  7. WOW that's great! 10 lb! That's such a great start!
    I agree with you that there's nothing wrong with enjoying the food. It's just most of the time people can't separate the enjoyment from the unhealthiness. I think first people need to separate food= pleasure in their mind, and then once they learn to eat for the health, they will automatically start enjoying food. But like you said, everyone has their own "issues" with food.
    And I absolutely love your couples selfie! I can't believe it's a self portrait! So great! The lighting is amazing!
